SACO (AP) — Hundreds of Maine residents gathered for a prayer vigil honoring the memory of a Saco mother who was fatally stabbed last week at a supermarket.
About 400 people were at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Saco Sunday night to grieve for 59-year-old Wendy Boudreau.
Police said Boudreau was killed Wednesday at a Shaw’s supermarket by 31-year-old Connor MacCalister.
MacCalister was arrested and charged with murder. He appeared in court Friday. He did not enter a plea and was ordered held without bail.
Church leaders at the vigil offered prayers and allowed attendees to write their thoughts on colorful ribbons tied to a banner. Mourners also lit candles and sang “Amazing Grace.”
Boudreau’s funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Thornton Academy’s Garland Auditorium in Saco.
