The hunt is on for ‘golden ticket’

RANGELEY — The hunt is on for a “golden ticket” at the Rangeley Public Library. The first person who receives a specially marked Rangeley Public Library card will be the winner of several prizes. The contest is part of the unveiling of the newly designed library card at the library.

“The staff just really thought that this would be a fun way to promote the newly designed library card,” said Martin Gagnon, director. “We wanted to provide more information on the card itself and increase patron’s awareness of our on-line capabilities.”

The front of the card, which includes an image of a moose, will remain the same. However, the back of the card now includes information on the new Destiny system which the library just installed within the last six months. With the installation of the Destiny software program, anyone can see what the Rangeley Public Library has from any computer with Internet access by clicking on the Library Catalog link at

The winning patron will receive a $20 gift card, a USB drive and a coupon for $5 worth of free copies. In addition, the winner will be granted coupons for three days of forgiveness. The patron may redeem the forgiveness coupons at the Rangeley Public Library at which time staff will delete any overdue fines on the patron’s account.

Patrons who already have a library card may ask for a new one so that they may have a chance to win. It costs nothing to get a library card and only takes a few minutes to fill out an address form. To join the Rangeley Public Library patrons do not need to be full-time residents or own property in Rangeley.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, visit
