IEP workshop for parents planned


FARMINGTON — The Maine Parent Federation and the Franklin County Children’s Task Force will offer a workshop on “Developing IEPs: A step-by-step guide.” The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 24, at the Franklin County Children’s Task Force.

When a student receives special education services, and Individualized Education Program is developed that specifies the special education supports and services the student will receive. Parents, as equal members of the IEP team, participate in the development of the IEP.

Using the Maine Department of Education’s IEP form, parents will gain an understanding of the various aspects of the program, participate in writing parts of the IEP and discover how to be a full participant in the process.

There is a $20 stipend for parents who attend. Child care and dinner will be provided. Call 778-6960 for more information and to register.
