Input sought for a new film festival

LEWISTON – L/A Arts is exploring the possibility of hosting a festival featuring movies created by Maine amateur film makers/vidoegraphers, a way to have fun sharing and viewing original, best works. Works will be shown on a large screen with a good sound system and the event will be open to the public. It is envisioned for this festival to take place sometime during the 2006-07 school year.

The organizers need to gauge the level of interest for this event before proceeding. Those who have a work they would like to submit, or if they think they will have a work ready by Sept. 1, please contact L/A Arts by Memorial Day.

Submissions need not be slick, just entertaining, and can be of any length up to 30 minutes; they must be in DVD format. Submissions may be any genre but must not contain copyrighted material.

A panel of judges will make selections for the festival and determine the programming. L/A Arts is hoping to draw from a wide range of film making experience for these submissions, not just film making veterans.

For more information on this festival and to express interest in participating, contact L/A Arts 782-7228.
