STRONG – SAD 58 will present an Internet Safety Night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Strong Elementary School and Wednesday, May 31, at the Kingfield Elementary School.

The presentation, “Be Smart – Be Safe,” is an opportunity for parents of children in grades kindergarten through 12 to learn about managing risks online and obtaining the resources to protect children from solicitations.

Mike Burd, Maine Computer Crimes Task Force, victims advocate, and Franklin County Adult Basic Education technology integrator, will discuss the importance of Web awareness for parents by taking an active role in their children’s online experience.

The talk will explore the potential dangers of popular Web sites such as MySpace.com, LiveJournal.com and facefook.com that allow users to make their pages viewable by the public or restricted to friends.

Members of the SAD 58 Technology Department will be available to discuss school Internet issues. There will be a question and answer session. The event is open to the parents, students and the public. For more information, contact Sharon Dudley or Angel Allen, 678-2701, ext. 100.
