Irene B. Dumont


LEWISTON – Irene B. Dumont, 87, formerly of 18 Green St., Lewiston, died peacefully at Central Maine Medical Center on Thursday, Dec. 28.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 28, 1919, the daughter of Antonio and Mary-Louise (La-roque) Brissette. She was educated in Lewiston Catholic schools and worked in the Lewiston/Auburn shoe industry, until her retirement in 1983.

She married Emile Dumont in September 1937, and he died Jan. 16, 1973. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish. She enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking and sewing. She was well-known for her peanut butter fudge and Needhams during the holidays. She especially enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and their families. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her two daughters, Fernande Letourneau and Georgette St.Pierre, and husband, Ronald, of Lewiston; a brother, Albert Brissette of Vermont; 10 grandchildren, Normand, and wife, Cheryl, Richard, and wife, Dot, Ronald, Robert and Daniel Letourneau, Donna Levasseur, and husband, John, Lisa Gagnon, and husband, Nelson, Shelly Jacques, and husband, David, Carrie Kivus, and husband, Timothy and Jody Jalbert, and husband, Scot; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by five brothers; and three sisters.
