LEWISTON – Irene E. Belanger, 94, formerly of 330 Harmons Corner Road, Auburn, and a resident of Schooner Estates for the past nine years, died Sunday, July 29, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Born in Lewiston, Nov. 1, 1912, she was the daughter of Theophile and Emma Lessard Sarasin. Educated in local schools, she was employed for several years at Knapp Shoe. In 1935, she was married to Albert Belanger, who passed away in 1987.

A member of St. Louis Parish, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking family meals and spoiling her grandchildren, and will be remembered for turning family get togethers into theme parties, making the most of their time together by celebrating everyone’s birthday at once, having Christmas in July, or by leading a parade of pot and pan clanging children around the house.

Survivors include a daughter, Fernande and husband, Henry Cimon, of Auburn; a son, Raymond Belanger of Lewiston; a brother, Fernand Sarasin of Auburn; grandchildren, Kenneth Cimon of Tupelo, Miss., Sandra Cimon of Claremont, N.H., Lucille Wilkinson of Colonial Heights, Va., Dorothy and Bill Jones, of Greensboro, N.C., Celeste and Joseph Nadeau, of Lowell, Mass., Denise and Wesly Peaslee, of Auburn, Marc and Debbie Belanger, of Lewiston, Randy Belanger of Lewiston, Paul Belanger of Auburn, and Monique Belanger of Lewiston; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband; she was predeceased by a sister, Yvette Gagnon; and a brother, Henry Sarasin.
