Irene F. Jack


WINSLOW – Irene F. Jack, 82, of Winslow, died Monday, May 15, at Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill, following a long illness.

She was born in Liberty on Dec. 22, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Lydia (Marshall) Boynton and was a graduate of Walker High School, Gorham Normal School and the University of Maine at Orono.

Irene taught school for many years.

She was an avid gardener and loved to can and freeze fruits and vegetables to gave away to family and friends.

She was a people person and loved to take care of people.

She was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene married Franklin M. Jack on June 12, 1947, and he died Dec. 3, 2004. They were always together.

She is survived by one daughter, Cathleen Holgerson and her husband, Douglas, of West Rockport; four grandchildren, Benjamin Holgerson of Jefferson, Carly Holgerson of West Rockport, Christopher Jack of South Paris and Michelle Winter of Livermore Falls; and two great-grandchildren, Kaullen Winter of Livermore Falls and Tucker Holgerson of Jefferson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Jack; a son, Franklin J. Jack; two brothers, Wilmot Boynton and Arthur Boynton Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Mildred Greene; and twin granddaughters, Hope and Liza Thompson.
