SABATTUS — Irene L. (Fontaine) Gehm, 79, of Venice, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at her daughter’s residence in Sabattus, with her loving family at her side, after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston, April 3, 1932, a daughter of the late Leo and Imelda (Lemay) Ouellette. Irene’s career consisted of 25 years in the medical field, retiring in 1991, to move to Florida, where she belonged to the Even Keels Club, which is part of the South Venice Yacht Club. She enjoyed being with her family and spending time at Florida’s casinos and bingo halls.
She leaves her children, Jean Roane and her husband, Tom, of Sabattus, Linda McLellan and her husband, Randy, of Prentiss Township and Anthony Fontaine and his wife, Lisa, of Lewiston; two brothers, Larry and Armand Ouellette, both of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Leon Fontaine and Hans Gehm; a sister, Jackie Ouellette; and a brother, Fern Ouellette.
The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Dr. Daniel Rausch and granddaughter-in-law, Shelly Murphy, for their loving care and help through this tough time.
