Irene A. Perry
1919 – 2010
LEWISTON — Irene A. Perry, 90, formerly of Barker Mill Arms in Auburn, died peacefully with family at her side on March 27. She was a resident at Marshwood Healthcare Facility for the past two years.
She was born in Lewiston, April 3, 1919, the daughter of Hermenegilde and Caroline (Levesque) Drouin. She attended schools in Jackman, and worked in local shoe industries for more than 40 years. Throughout her lifem her favorite hobbies included reading, politics, traveling, bingo, sewing and she also had an exceptional talent playing the piano.
However, her ultimate passion was caring for her children and grandchildren and her involvement in their academic and athletic activities. She was a devote communicant of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston and in later years, St. Louis Church in Auburn. She was married in 1941 to Albert J. Perry (Poirier), of Rumford.
Survivors include daughters, Madeleine Barnaby of Conway, N.H., and Genevieve Nadeau and husband, Bruce, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Erin Walters and husband, Timothy, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sarah Nadeau of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Andrew Nadeau of Salem, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Alison Irene and Megan Laura Walters of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a very dear friend (“PRECIOUS PEARL BUTTON”) Jeanne David; and several special nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Perry; sisters, Bernadette Guerin and Cecile Despres; brother, Joseph Gerard Drouin; and two grandchildren.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional support and care in most recent years at Montello Heights Assisted Living, Sarah Frye Home, Marshwood Healthcare Facility, and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
