1919 – 2013
BREWER — Irene Y. Sirois, 93, formerly of Switzerland Road, Lewiston, went to be with her Lord and savior on Jan. 24, at the Woodlands Senior Living in Brewer.
She was born in Lewiston, Sept. 14, 1919, the daughter of Phillip and Ida Bourget Saucier. She attended Lewiston schools.
In 1942, she married Bertrand Sirois. They were married 48 years and had two children. She worked for many years as a stitcher at Knapp Shoe in Lewiston, retiring in 1981. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family and loved working in her garden, raising vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed mowing her lawns. She was a great seamstress and she enjoyed knitting and braiding rugs.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Proctor and husband, David, of Lowell; and son, Thomas and wife, Barbara, of Greene. She also leaves three grandchildren, Wayne Proctor and wife, Tammy, of Georgia, Dee Proctor of Florida, and Jennifer Lacasse and husband, Eric, of Raymond; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Alexander Proctor of Georgia, Darcy Johnson of Raymond, Kaylee and Tyler Lacasse of Raymond and Christopher Emery and Jason Proctor of Florida. She is also survived by sisters, Germaine Saucier of Nebraska and Florence DeFormato and husband, Emilio, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bertrand; brothers, Phillip, Roland and Maurice Saucier; and sisters, Eva Marcotte and Beatrice Saucier. She was also predeceased by her special friend, Charles Lavoie.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Woodlands of Brewer, Memory Care Unit, for the care and compassion they gave Irene. They also wish to thank the staff of Beacon Hospice for all the extra care and support that they provided in Irene’s time of need.
