Isabella M. Thomas


BRUNSWICK – Isabella M. Thomas, 84, of Edgewater Colony, Harpswell, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Mid Coast Hospital.

She was born in Motherwell, Scotland, April 17, 1921, to Simpson and Agnes Blackwood. She was a lifelong member of the Clan Campbell and an active member/supporter of Tommy’s Feral Feline Rescue of Lewiston and Another Chance Animal Rescue of North Berwick.

She graduated from Lewiston High School and Bliss College. She married Vance Thomas, her husband of 55 years, and raised two children for the first part of her work life. She worked for B. Peck Co. for 20 years, and was the sole proprietor of Royal Decorating of Lewiston, until her retirement in 1990.

She enjoyed boating, swimming, sewing, shopping until you drop for her family, friends, pets and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Isa Thomas of North Berwick; her two grandsons, Michael Thomas of Durham and Brent Thomas of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; a brother, George Blackwood of Harpswell; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Thomas of Durham; close friends Constance and Craig; and several nieces and nephews, as well as several grandnieces and nephews and other immediate family living in Scotland, England and Turkey.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vance F. Thomas, Sept. 11, 2001; and her son, John Thomas, Feb. 8, 1996.
