LEWISTON — Jacqueline C. Daunis, formerly of 169 Fairview Ave., Auburn, and a resident of Odd Fellows Home in Auburn for the past eight years, died Tuesday, March 2, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Bar Harbor, April 15, 1914, the daughter of Thomas and Julia Cronin Landers. Educated at University of Maine and Forsythe Dental School in Boston, she was proud of being the first dental hygienist in the Lewiston-Auburn area, working for many years in the office of Dr. Paul Smith on Lisbon Street in Lewiston.

On July 11, 1942, she married Frank J. Daunis. He passed away on May 1, 1995. A former member of St. Joseph’s Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she was an avid golfer and former member at Martindale and Prospect Hill golf courses.

She was also, a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Auburn Art and Literature Club, the First Auburn Seniors and the Robin Dow Seniors. She enjoyed bingo and other activities at the Odd Fellows Home, and was especially proud of her grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Daunis-Dunning and husband, William Dunning, of Brunswick; and a grandson, Samuel Dunning, a student in New York City.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Thomas, Donald, Henry, Richard; and a sister, Patricia.
