JAY — School Committee members learned Thursday night that the school system may receive $187,601 more in state education subsidy for the 2010-11 budget.
Initially, Jay expected to take a hit on its state subsidy, Superintendent Robert Wall said.
“It certainly is not going to bring us cost neutral,” he said, but it provides a better budget-process outlook.
“We’re pleased with the budget process but it has not been an easy one,” Wall said.
The School Committee and Budget Committee are scheduled to meet on the budget at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, at the high school library.
A second meeting for the two boards is scheduled at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 25, at the same place.
A special meeting of the two committees will be held on Thursday, May 6, to finalize the 2010-11 budget.
The budget will go to voters at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, at the middle school cafeteria in a district town meeting style. A referendum validation vote will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at the polls.
