JAY — School Committee members voted Tuesday to eliminate the contract of art teacher James Remington due to budget reductions, Chairwoman Mary Redmond-Luce said Thursday.
The board also instructed Superintendent Robert Wall to give Remington at least 90 calendar days notice of the School Committee’s action, she said.
“It is with regret that James Remington’s position was eliminated as he is an excellent teacher and role model,” Redmond-Luce said.
Other eliminations were covered by retirements, Wall said Thursday.
There were four positions to be eliminated in the budget including teachers in world language, business and a high school librarian.
Retiring are Linda Davis, a business teacher, Paula Swenson, a world language teacher, and librarian Linda Petersen, all located at the high school.
