Jenkins to address ministry on anniversary

LEWISTON — The Jesus Party announces the special guest appearance of John T Jenkins in recognition of the ministry’s 17-year anniversary. The event, to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, is adult oriented and is open to friends, supporters and those interested in learning more about the ministry.

Jenkins will speak on “Inspired To Be Great” in the Jesus Party chapel, 291 Bates St. RSVP at 786-5568; seating is limited.

The Jesus Party Pentecostal Kids’ Church was established in February of 1995 when Douglas and Sonia Taylor and their children launched the faith-based nonprofit religious organization to serve inner-city children and their families.

When the Taylors first began their ministry Jenkins was the Lewiston mayor. Taylor first met Jenkins in December of 1985 when Taylor was 16 and a recovering teenage alcoholic. They worked together on a anti-drug abuse presentation sponsored by the Lewiston Lodge of Elks.
