Area residents are fortunate to have Jim Wilfong running for state senator. He is a proven legislator who works with both sides of the aisle and has been experienced, accomplished and effective in protecting Maine’s environment.
Wilfong served in the Legislature in the mid-1970s, where he worked to protect the groundwater and air from pollution. He was also instrumental with the “bottle bill” and the bill that has prevented Maine highways from having advertising on billboards.
In 2007, he was instrumental in having groundwater extraction placed under the Natural Resource Protection Act. He sees Maine’s lakes and groundwater resource as one of the state’s outstanding economic resources as the state enters an era of climate change.
Jim Wilfong is mindful of the need for economic development for rural Maine and has taught entrepreneurship and worked for small business development on both the local and national level.
