1934 – 2015
RUMFORD — Joan A. “Honey” DesRoches, 81, died on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Rumford Hospital after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. She resided on the Dickvale Road in Peru.
She was born in Littleton, N.H., on June 29, 1934, a daughter of Rosario and Hazel (Byron) DeFosse. She was a graduate of Dixfield High School, Class of 1952. She worked as a secretary at the Rumford Shoe Shop.
Honey enjoyed her many trips to Prince Edward Island, Canada, to visit family. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and attending bluegrass festivals.
She was married in Dixfield on June 5, 1954, to Elie J. DesRoches.
Survivors include two daughters, Elisa Malchisky and husband, George, of Rumford and Holly Arsenault and husband, Kenneth, of Rumford; four granddaughters, Arianne Brown and husband, Bill, of Mexico, Jessi Arsenault of Rumford, Amber Downs and her companion, Robert Bassett, of Rumford, Arica Downs of Rumford; grandsons, Aaron Arsenault and wife, Erica, of Peru and Joseph Arsenault and wife, Sarah, of Rumford Point; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ja-Kobe, Austin and Lexi; best friends, Douglas and Janet Nile of New Vineyard.
