JoAnne L. Frank

1930 – 2014

LEWISTON — JoAnne Louise Frank passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Marshwood Center.

Born to LeRoy and Geneva (Thurston) Frank on Aug. 17, 1930, in Vassalboro, “Just Jo” was a child of the Great Depression who collected curios she considered valuable. Jo proved the age old adage, “never talk about politics and religion.”

As an entrepreneur, Jo developed several companies coast-to-coast en route as she briefly settled in Utah and California, before returning to her beloved Maine.

An avid outdoorswoman, Jo loved fishing and swimming at Worthley Brook, which cut through her childhood home in Hackett Mills. She developed a love of books and reading, writing and reciting poetry from her dad. In spite of illness in her latter years, she would recite, from memory, many of her favorite poems.

Jo was predeceased by brothers, Hal, Freeman, Philip and Timothy; and sister, Trudy.

She was loved and is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Paul Belisle of Lewiston; brother and sister-in-law, Royal and Pam Frank of Poland; sisters-in-law, Ruth, Sally, Jan and Lucy; 13 nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

The family appreciates the excellent care Jo received from the staff at Marshwood. And to all who knew her, in Jo’s words, “Bless your heart.”
