Joel Kase seeking Senate District 16 seat


 LEWISTON – Joel Anders Kase of Lewiston has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the Maine Senate in District 16, representing the city of Lewiston.

 Kase has been a physician in central Maine for the past decade, having practiced at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for eight years, and currently working at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. Kase is also an associate professor at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, which has campuses in Portland and Biddeford.

 Joe Wolverton, a shareholder at Ouellette and Associates in Lewiston, will serve as Kase’s campaign treasurer.

 Kase is active in a number of civic and community organizations. He is president of the Maine Osteopathic Association, and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Auburn/Lewiston, and as chairman of the Board of Directors of Healthy Androscoggin. In 2009, he was honored with the Roswell P. Bates Award for Public Service, named for the last osteopathic physician to serve in both Houses of the Maine Legislature.

 A graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Harvard School of Public Health, Kase lives on No Name Pond with his wife, Angela, and their two children, who are students in the Lewiston public school system.
