John E. Saucier


1946 – 2014

ISLAND FALLS — John E. Saucier, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on Jan. 28, 1946, in Elkton, Md., a son of Rene and Elizabeth (Campbell) Saucier. He graduated from Leavitt High School in Turner, Class of 1964. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968.

John worked at Philips Elmet in Lewiston. After retiring, he worked as a volunteer driver for Community Concepts in Lewiston. In 2009, he moved to Island Falls and worked as a volunteer driver for Aroostook Transport and County Rides.

John’s favorite pastime was buying, fixing and selling old cars. His most recent project was a 1956 Pontiac.

He is survived by his significant other, Roberta Brooks, and her family; a son, Brian Saucier and his wife, Heidi, of Turner; a daughter, Kelly Saucier and her husband, John Vandenheulvel, of Manchester, Conn.; six grandchildren; brother, Charles and his wife, Cora, of Bristol, Conn., and two more brothers, Frank and Ellorey; sisters, Rosalind Lee of Livermore and Laureen and her family of Connecticut; and four more children whom he considered his own and loved very much, Jacob Brooks, Jennah Brooks, Willow Brooks and Paris Flanagan.

He was predeceased by his parents; two children, John Jr. and Tabitha Saucier; a brother, Robert; and a brother-in-law, Norman Berry.

John was a kind and generous person who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
