John P. Hemond
AUBURN — A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 26 for John P. Hemond at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. The Rev. Richard C. McLaughlin celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Grandchildren involved in the ceremony were Jennifer Degan carried the Bible, Billie-Jo Hemond and Laura Hemond each did a reading from the Bible and Tyler and Kevin Hemond carried the gift. Pallbearers were Paul Hemond, John Demers, Richard Grenier, Nat Hemond, Greg Campbell and Travis Hemond. Mrs. John P. Hemond was presented the U.S. of America flag by the Navy honor guard for her husband’s service to the nation in World War II. After the committal, family and friends continued the celebration of John’s life with a reception in the basement of Sacred Heart Church. The meal was catered by Nat and Amber Hemond and Amber’s mother, Dawn. Arrangements were under the care of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Mechanic Falls.
