John A. Popadak


PORTLAND – John A. Popadak, 83, of 58 Frost Hill Ave., Lisbon Falls, died on Monday, April 3, at Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born on Sept. 13, 1922, in Durham, a son of John M. and Barbara (Vachal) Popadak. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Bliss Business College. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was very proud of his two medals, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

On Oct. 3, 1942, he married the former Lucille Willette. He was self-employed as an accountant and was a member of the former St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, now Holy Trinity Parish. He was a member of the Maine Beekeepers Association and the National Association of Accountants.

He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, woodworking and hunting.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Lucille of Lisbon Falls; two daughters, Jonica Fulton and husband, Craig, of Winterport, Judith Doucette and husband, Stephen, of Lisbon Falls; one son, James Popadak and wife, Marjorie, of Mcloud, Okla.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Morgan and husband, Michael, Wendy Tsoulas and husband, Kenneth, Stephanie Kuietauskas and husband, Brian, and Breanna Popadak; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tsoulas, Andrew and Maxwell Morgan; one brother, Bernard Popadak of Lisbon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his infant son, Daniel Gregory Popadak; and his brother, Edward.
