Johnson – Grimsley


SEBASCO ESTATES – Catherine Alice Johnson of New Gloucester and William Lee Grimsley of Columbia, S.C., were married on Sept. 30 on the pool lawn overlooking Casco Bay at Sebasco Harbor Resort in Sebasco Estates. The 4 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Dr. Thomas P. Cushman, and was followed by a cocktail social and reception at the resort.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnson of New Gloucester, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hinkle of Winston-Salem, N.C., Virginia Johnson of Auburn and the late Thomas B. Johnson Sr. She is a graduate of Bowdoin College and is a founder of VICCTRE, a non-profit equine welfare organization that rescues and rehabilitates neglected and abused horses and retired race horses in the Virgin Islands.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Grimsley Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and the grandson of Edwin Kenneth Thrower of Vero Beach, Fla., and the late Polly White Thrower of High Point, N.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Grimsley Sr. of High Point, N.C. He is a graduate of Clemson University and works in property and restaurant management, and is also building their home at St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The bride was escorted by her father, and was attended by family members and friends. Edward Lee Grimsley was his son’s best man, and the groomsmen were family members and friends.

The wedding music was provided by a string trio, Julia Dams, Greg Boardman and Juan Condori.

The couple is residing at St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
