Johnson Hall in Gardiner to present ‘Fabulous Problemas’ on March 15

In this outrageous criminal comedy, three squirt gun-slinging desperadoes swindle and seduce their way into the greatest heist of all time. “The Fabulous Problemas” is a Columbian-American collaboration which features three virtuoso physical comedians who need no dialogue to tell their tale.

Set to a lively jazz music score, the three scoundrels con each other (and sing and dance) until they decide to band together to form a gang. Working with director Davis Robinson, “The Fabulous Problemas” was devised in Bogota, Columbia and premiered at Celebration Barn in 2011.

Amanda Huotari, Daniel Orrantia and Aaron Tucker make up the cast. Huotari is the executive director of Celebration Barn Theater and her solo show, The Soiree, has been featured at festivals across the US including Orlando Fringe Festival, Cassandra Project and The New York Clown-Theatre Festival. Orrantia is a Columbian improviser who has performed in Europe and throughout South America. Tucker is a professional circus clown who has toured the U.S. with Ringling Brothers Circus and Japan with Kinoshita Circus.

The trio met at Celebration Barn in South Paris while studying with master artists including Keith Johnstone, Dody DiSanto, Julie Goell, Avner the Eccentric, Karen Montanaro and 500 Clown. Robinson is an associate professor of theater at Bowdoin College and the artistic director of the award-winning ensemble The Beau Jeste Moving Theatre.
