Joseph D. St. Pierre


LEWISTON – Joseph D. St. Pierre, 90, a resident of 35 Old Greene Road, Lewiston died Tuesday, April 25, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, June 19, 1915, the son of Thomas and Mary (Levesque) St. Pierre. He attended Lewiston schools, was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed as an assistant foreman for many years at W.S. Libbey, and had also worked as a salesman for Jolly Post, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Holy Family Church, and was a member of the supervisory committee of Maine Family Credit Union as well as a member of Lewiston Senior Citizens.

His hobbies included golfing, bowling, watching baseball, hockey, and playing cribbage.

Survivors include his wife, the former Florence LaPlante, whom he married, June 29, 1940, of Lewiston; one daughter, Mrs. Claudette Roy and her husband, Roger, of Auburn; one sister, Mrs. Fernande Simard of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Lisa Furbush and husband, Andy of Auburn and Brian Roy of Freeport; and two great-grandsons, Alex and Benjamin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Yacoub and his staff as well as the staff of St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion for the wonderful care extended by them to Joseph during his illness.
