SABATTUS — A funeral Mass honoring the life of Joseph E. Fisher was celebrated on Monday at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus, after prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. The Rev. Lionel Chouinard celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. At the beginning of Mass Mr. Fisher’s wife, Doris Fisher draped his casket with the burial pall that commemorates her husband’s baptism into new life. During the Mass, the readings were done by son, James Fisher and daughter-in-law, Tammy Fisher. The offertory was brought to the altar by grandchildren, Sabrina, Steven and Kate Fisher. Words of remembrance were expressed by his daughter, J. Amanda Spencer and by his son, Joseph Fisher, Jr. Military honors from the U.S. Air Force played “taps” and presented our country’s flag to Mr. Fisher’s wife, Doris Fisher. Bearers were members of the Masonic Lodge at the Webster Lodge 164 of Sabattus, Robert Gayton Jr., Robert Gayton III, Jordan Witherell, Elbert Derick, Sonny Jutras and Paul Boudreau. A reception of fellowship was held at the American Legion Post 35 in Sabattus, after the services at the cemetery.
