Joseph A. Foisy
1917 – 2010
AUBURN — Joseph A. Foisy, 93, of 88 Jefferson St., Lewiston, died Sunday, March 28, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with his family by his side after a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 7, 1917, the son of Joseph Emeril and Lydia (Tremblay) Foisy and was a resident of this community all of his life.
Joe retired as a housing inspector for the city of Lewiston and prior to that was a manager at the Hill Division of Bates Manufacturing.
His passion was enjoying outdoor activities which included snowmobiling, ice fishing, golf and family picnics. He enjoyed making people laugh with his great sense of humor. He always enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. He took pride in his work and was an exceptionally creative craftsman. He will be sadly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mariette Lajoie Foisy of Lewiston; one daughter, Barbara Lovell of Morgan City, La.; three sons, Richard Foisy and his wife, Carleen, of Greene, Robert Foisy and his wife, Annette, of Sanford and William Foisy and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mills River, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Foisy; two brothers, Louis and Aime Foisy; and a sister, Yvonne Paradis.
