LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Joseph G. Conley was celebrated by the Rev. Aaron Dambois on Thursday morning, Feb. 13, at Holy Family Church of the Prince of Peace Parish.
During the Mass, Joe’s granddaughter, Maureen Schoeninger, proclaimed an Old Testament reading and Joe’s daughter, Mary Beth Schoeninger, proclaimed a New Testament reading. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Joe’s granddaughters, Katie Conley and Maureen Schoeninger, and words of remembrance were shared by Joe’s son, Paul Conley.
Following a funeral procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, the Rev. Dambois recited committal prayers, after which the U.S. Navy Honor Detail played taps and presented our country’s flag to Joe’s daughter, Mary Beth Schoeninger, in honor of her father’s service to his country during World War II. Private graveside prayers will be held later in the spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lewiston.
Pallbearers were Peter, Paul and James Conley, as well as Paul Murphy, Matthew Thurston and Carl Schoeninger. At the conclusion of services, all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at DaVinci’s Restaurant in Lewiston. Arrangements were by Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, Lewiston.
