Joseph M. Chabot


DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Joseph (Link) Marcel Chabot, 74, a resident of 21 Concord Place, Auburn, formerly of Lewiston, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Delray Beach Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 19, 1932, the son of Alfred and Cecile (Lelonde) Chabot. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s grammer school, and in 1950 graduated from St. Dominic’s High School, where he served as president of his class. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After the service, he continued his education at Indiana Technical College in Ft. Wayne, Ind., receiving his mechanical engineering degree. On Aug. 27, 1955, he married the former Jeannine Morin at Holy Cross Church.

He retired in 1998 as vice president of manufacturing with Etonic Inc. after 32 years of employment. He was a longtime and active member of Holy Cross Church, where he had served as chairman of Holy Cross school board for many years, as well as president of the Sacred Heart League of Holy Cross, where he oversaw the development of the Holy Cross School playground.

He was also a member of the Shoe Executives of Maine, and he was an avid skier where he and his family skied at Sugarloaf for more than 22 years.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannine of Auburn; three sons, Marc Chabot, and his wife, Aisha, of South Berwick, Daniel Chabot, and his wife, Corinne, of Hampden and Donald Chabot, and his wife, Kim, of Litchfield; one daughter, Patrice Griffin, and her husband, Thomas, of Barrington, Ill.; five brothers, Gerard Chabot of Lewiston, Brother Ireneus Chabot of the Sacred Heart from Rhode Island, the Rev. Robert Chabot of Holiday, Fla., the Rev. Roger Chabot of Farmington and Richard Chabot, and his wife, Stella, of Lebanon, Conn.; four sisters, Therese Chabot of Lewiston, Pauline Wiesen, and her husband, David, of Dunnelon, Fla., Rachel Pelow and Jackie Rossignol, both of Lewiston; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Bennett, and Luc Chabot, Connor Griffin, Natasha Chabot Rene and Claire Griffin.
