LEWISTON — Joseph “Rene” Jalbert, 88, died Friday, Feb. 10, at Marshwood Center.
Rene was born in Lewiston, March 14, 1923, the son of the late Andrea and Marie (St. Pierre) Jalbert. He married Yvonne Gauthier on April 18, 1953.
Before his retirement in the late 1970s, he worked at Bates and Edwards Mills in Lewiston and Augusta. He really enjoyed “people watching,” joking and teasing anyone he knew.
Rene is survived by a brother, Romeo Jalbert and wife, Mary Lou; a sister, Georgette; three nieces, Rose-Marie Gauthier, Lina Haskell and husband, Mark and Jane Bernier and husband, Richard; and many grandnieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne; two sisters, Annette and Juliette; and a brother, Donat.
The family would like to thank Odd Fellows Home, where he had lived for the past six years, for the wonderful care given to him. He always said “he never had it so good.”
Family and friends are invited to offer condolences and pay tribute to Rene’s life by visiting his guest book at www.thefortingrouplewiston.com.
