Judith L. Nowak


1943 – 2014

SCARBOROUGH — Judith L. Nowak, 71, of Colonial Park Drive in Windham, died on Tuesday, Oct. 14, in Scarborough, following a long illness.

She was born in Portland on May 25, 1943, a daughter of Charles and Jane Staples Douglass. She was educated in Falmouth schools and was a graduate of the Class of 1962.

Judy worked at Maine Medical Center as an aide and advanced into endocrinology research. This eventually brought her to Brigham Hospital in Boston, where she met her husband, Bernd Nowak. They were married on April 11, 1970.

Judy spent many years working as a long-term caregiver for the terminally ill. Her hobbies included being an avid reader and she was greatly interested in genealogy.

Besides her husband, survivors include a son, Scott D. Nowak and his wife, Jessica; a grandson, Osiris, all of Bangor; and a granddaughter, Briana Nowak, of Standish.

Judy was predeceased by her parents and a son, Matthew.
