Kingfield man arrested on unlawful sexual contact charges

KINGFIELD — A Kingfield man was arrested late Thursday night on two felony charges of unlawful sexual contact after a citizen reported him to police, Franklin County Detective Dave St. Laurent said.

Oscar E. Robinson, 63, made an initial appearance in an Auburn court Monday where bail was set at $500. As of Tuesday morning, Robinson was still being held at Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington.

A complaint was made to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department at about 8 p.m. Thursday. The caller reported Robinson had allegedly been touching two teenage girls for some time.

“It was an emergency-type situation and we had to act quick,” St. Laurent said.

Following the evening investigation, St. Laurent, Sgt. Steven Lowell and officer Sandy Burke had enough evidence to make an arrest around midnight, he said.

Robinson has no other criminal history. He is facing the two counts of unlawful sexual contact, but the district attorney will make a decision if there will be other charges, St. Laurent said.
