Knight Celotex workers eligible for federal help

LISBON FALLS — The U.S. Department of Labor has ruled that former workers at Knight Celotex in Lisbon Falls are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance.

An investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor concluded that workers there, who were engaged in activities that related to the production of cellulosic wood fiberboard, lost their jobs as a direct result of the company’s customers increasing purchases of imported products.

The assistance is a Department of Labor program that helps workers who have lost their jobs as a result of more imports or a shift of production outside of the United States. TAA provides trade-affected workers with a variety of re-employment services and benefits to help them find new jobs and get back to work.
