L/A wine tasting adds funds for schools

LEWISTON – Marco’s Restaurant set the scene May 3 for a wine tasting and dinner to benefit the Lewiston/Auburn Rotary Club’s Scholarship Endowment Fund.

More than 50 people gathered for five courses accompanied by five complementary wines. Each wine was introduced by Fern Lapointe of Central Distributors.

“Each time a glass was raised, it made me smile knowing that our Rotary Club’s scholarship fund was growing and we’d be able to help more young people go on to higher education,” said Jen Hogan, event organizer.

The L/A Rotary Club was founded in 1917 and believes in “Service Above Self.” In addition to offering six $1,000 scholarships to local high school students as they pursue a higher education, the club has helped local and national organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Polio Plus Foundation, the Good Shepherd Food-Bank and Camp Susan Curtis.
