WATERVILLE — Laura B. Bennett, 89, of Fairfield passed peacefully on March 18, with her family by her side at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Livermore, daughter of Eugillis and Laura Turcotte.

She worked for Foster Manufacturing in Strong and in shoe shops in Livermore and Farmington. She was a seventh-degree member of the Benton Grange, a member of the American Legion Post 14 Auxiliary. She held offices of president, secretary, historian and chaplain. She was a member of the past presidents Parley and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6924 in Fairfield.

She loved to dance, play bingo and watch the Boston Red Sox. She and Frank traveled a lot and enjoyed trips in their motor home. She loved her dog Molly, who went everywhere with her.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Bennett of Fairfield; daughters, Rhonda and her husband, Lawrence Robinson, of Fairfield, Joan Knightly and her companion, Dan Footer, of Poland, Gloria and her husband, Norman Chicoine, of Livermore and Jeanette and her husband, David Netzel, of Hampton Falls, N.H.; sons, Larry Heaward and his wife, Deb, of Melbourne, Fla., Paul Heaward and his wife, Brenda, of Oxford and Thomas Heaward and his wife, Linda, of Oxford; brother, Lucien Dube and his wife, Arlene, of Livermore; sisters, Eleanor Wilbur of Rangley and Louise York of Jay; many nieces and nephews; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; Lorraine Kelly of Farmington and her family; a special daughter-in-law, Susan Heaward of Palm Bay, Fla.; best friend, Clara Morris of Greene and her family. She will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her parents; sons, William and Kenneth; daughter, Jeannie; brothers, George and Eugene Turcotte; sisters, Grace Judd, Francis Therrien and Rena Hiltz; and a great-grandson, Brett Gould.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Donna Robinson, Jackie Cloutier, Penny Sweatt and Kathy and James MacDonald for all their love and support.
