Lawrence Small


LEWISTON – Lawrence “Sonny” Small, 74, of Canton, formerly of Wilton, died early Friday afternoon, Jan. 26, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Wilton, April 27, 1932, a son of Lawrence D. and Emily (Gurley) Small.

He was employed for several years at Nezinscot Guild and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Turner.

He enjoyed playing card games, especially Yahtzee, watching old television shows and talking with people. He had resided at the Victorian Villa Boarding and Nursing Home in Canton for nearly 20 years and helped organize bingo activities there.

He is survived by a brother, Carl Small and his wife, Lorna, of Hartford; a sister, Eleanor Durrell and her husband, Basil, of Wilton; nine nieces and nephews, Sue Veilleux, Harold Dalrymple, Bethany McCrillis, Bill McCrillis, Mark Small, Debbie McWain, Andrew Small, Ruth Gibbons, and Stephen Small; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Small and Lillian McCrillis; and a brother, William Small.
