Legere fires hole-in-one

POLAND – Jerry Legere notched a hole-in-one, his second in 3 weeks, at Poland Spring Country Club. He aced the #6 hole, 148-yards, using an 8-iron. Witnesses were Dana Rydberg and Tom Ryan.

Tourneys planned

Two area golf tourneys are slated later this summer.

The 13th annual Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Monday, August 6 at the Augusta Country Club. Cost is $125 per player. Tourney format is a 4-person scramble with a noon shotgun start. The event is being hosted by the Maine Bankers Assocation. The Southern Maine Community College Athletics Department will host its fourth annual Golf Tournament fundraiser and dinner/silent auction on Tuesday August 14 at Toddy Brook Golf Course in North Yamouth. It’ll be an 18-hole, 4-person scramble. Cost is $80 per person. The tourney starts at 1 p.m. Additional information is available by calling 741-5511.
