AUBURN — Sons of the American Legion will host Super Bowl Sunday at the William J. Rogers Post 153, 71 South Main St. The game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 3, in New Orleans. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. The post events will begin at 4 p.m. and continue to the end of the game. Members will be bringing potluck dishes and there will be giveaways. Dress up in your favorite team outfit.
“The day on which the Super Bowl is played is now considered by some a de facto American national holiday, ‘Super Bowl Sunday.’ It is the second-largest day for U.S. food consumption, after Thanksgiving Day,” said first vice Mike Bellmare. “In addition, the Super Bowl has frequently been the most watched American television broadcast of the year.”
The Sons of the American Legion will be donating the proceeds to the Veterans Home in South Paris’ “gift shop for Christmas” program.
The South Paris Veterans Home is the fourth of six multi-service facilities. Opening in July of 1995, it has a 90-bed facility which includes a 28-bed residential care unit with 24-hour medical and skilled care units. “The focus is on returning the patient to their home and community whenever possible,” said Paul R. Bernard, public relations officer.
