Legion posts join for parade

LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, Lisbon Falls, and Coombs-Mountfort Post 158, American Legion, Lisbon Village, will again sponsor the Memorial Day parade and observances on Monday, May 29.

The parade will form near Crafts Auto on Route 196, starting at 9 a.m. and following the usual route to the monument at Addison and Campus. It will proceed to Lisbon High School for the ceremony at that memorial.

Participants will be bused to the former Lisbon Elementary School area for a re-assembly, then march down Village Street to the Sabattus River bridge for the ceremony, then to Post 158 for the final ceremony.

Refreshments will be furnished by Post 158 to all in the parade. Post 66 Commander John Schlaack will speak at Lewiston High School and Androscoggin County Commander James Veilleux will address the Post 158 ceremony. The Post 66 firing squad will do the firing honors at each ceremony.

Post members will be joined by members of the Scout groups and by town officials.
