Lemuel Victor Hill


PORTLAND – Lemuel Victor Hill, 96, of Cumberland, died April 6, at a Portland nursing home.

He was born in Durham, June 29, 1909, the son of William H. and Elizabeth Edwards Hill. He was married 51 years to his sweetheart, Emily Madora Butcher, before her passing in December 1987.

Lem left his home of 63 years on Plummer Street, Lisbon Falls last August, moving to Ledgeview Assisted Living Center in Cumberland.

Continuing on the road of life are his son, William; daughter, Linda ; and granddaughter, Caitlin.

A man of many talents, he was always willing to lend family and friends a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A special note of thanks to the caring staff at Ledgeview Assisted Living, dad’s physician, Dr. John Erickson and also to the staff at The Cedars, who provided wonderful end-of-life care for our dad and support for the family.
