PARIS — Every Thursday starting Feb. 23 through March 29, Deering Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Woman’s Club will host the Oxford Hills Clergy Association’s Lenten Luncheon Series.
The lunch features a wide variety of salads, sandwiches and homemade soups. Each lunch begins promptly at noon and features a short sermon delivered by a local preacher. Past attendees have commented on how much they enjoy meeting with other people from the various churches and hearing the variety of Lenten messages. If you are curious about Christian beliefs but haven’t been to a church in a while, this event offers an excellent opportunity to have lunch and get a flavor for what the local churches have to offer.
Deering Memorial United Methodist Church is at 39 Main St. in South Paris. Tickets are available at the door for $6 per lunch or $30 for the series, and are available on a first come first served basis.
The schedule is as follows: Feb. 23, Pastor Eric Hanson, Hosanna New Testament Church; March 1, Rev. Ann Stanley; March 8, Pastor Genise Stern, Otisfield Baptist Church; March 15, Rev. Leslie Foley, Second Congregational Church; March 22, Rev. Dorette Colburn, Waterford Congregational UCC; March 29, Rev. Don Mayberry, First Congregational Church.
