Leola M. LeCours


LEWISTON – Leola M. LeCours, 80, died Saturday, July 21, at the Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston. She was a lifelong resident of the area and resided on Spring Avenue in Rumford.

She was born in Mexico, Oct. 26, 1926, a daughter of Leslie and Rose (Sawyer) Biggar Sr. She graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1944.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Church, where she had been active as a lector and Eucharistic minister, member of St. Timothy Circle Daughters of Isabella, member of the Bomberettes Bowling Team, member of the Greater Rumford Senior Citizens and the Dixfield Neighborly Senior Citizens.

She was married in Rumford, Sept. 6, 1948, to Sylvio J. LeCours, who died in Rumford on Oct. 10, 1999.

Survivors include three sons, George LeCours and wife, Eliza, of Hollis, N.H., Peter LeCours and wife, Nancy, of Mexico, and Timothy LeCours and wife, Susan, of Rumford; a sister, Mae Patrick of Mexico; 11 grandchildren, Andrea Stoker and husband, Walter, of Colorado, Jeffrey and Stephanie LeCours of Nashua, N.H., Ryan LeCours of Hollis, N.H., Denis, Brandon and Brianna LeCours of Rumford, Kandi and Joshua Hayes of Rumford, and Trevor and Nicholas Newman of Mexico; and a great-grandson, Samuel George Stoker of Colorado.

She was predeceased by a brother, Leslie Biggar Jr.; and a son, Denis LeCours.
