AUBURN — Leon Fred Wing, 82, of Gorham, died April 18.
He was born in Dead River, May 18, 1927, the son of Arthur and Winona (Morris) Wing, who later moved to Gorham.
He was a World War II Army veteran, stationed in Germany, last serving as a corporal. He owned Able Truck and Trailer Service for many years.
Although he recently resided at Clover Manor in Auburn, he had been a resident of North Gorham, since 1960. Active in Boy Scouts Pine Tree Council for many years, he served as Scout Master and Council Member. Formerly an active member of the United Church of Christ and served on the Gorham Ecumenical Council. He enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors and was happiest when at camp with his family.
He cherished family and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Wallace) Wing; six children, Sandra Wing of Gorham, Gregory Wing of Gorham, Debora Tapley of Gorham, Daniel Wing of Gorham, Kathleen Tapley of Gorham, Sylvia Wallingford of Westbrook; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
