Leone Cyr


LEWISTON – Leone Cyr died Friday, May 26, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston, where she had been a patient since Nov. 29, 2005. Previously, she was a resident of Sara Frye Home in Auburn.

Born on Feb. 19, 1914, in Siegas, N.B., she was the daughter of Sophie and Victor Violette. She married Damase Cyr of Madawaska on May 19, 1935, and they made their home on Lemaire Avenue in Lewiston for more than 40 years. They were married 46 years until his death in November, 1981.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her large family. She was dearly loved by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who cherished the many knitted socks and mittens from their “mmre.” She will be fondly remembered.

She was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality at Holy Family Church, and more recently had been a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Andrina Lger of San Marcos, Calif.; five sons, Alphe (Joe) of Hartford, Robert (Moe) and his wife, Judy, of Sabattus, Aurele and his wife, Rachelle, of Lewiston, Ren and his wife, Flora, of Turner, and Jude and his wife, Joan, of Auburn; son-in-law, Ren Gagn of San Marcos, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, Gail Zavala and her husband, Ralph, and their children Erik (and his wife, Natalie, and their daughter, Emma), Victoria and Stephanie; Tina Cyr; Tim Cyr and his wife, Judy, and their children, Amber, Meghan, Samantha and Reese; Tom Cyr and his son, Joshua; Tony Cyr; Rose Cyr; Suzanne Davies and her husband, Steven, and their children Nikita and Nash; Robert Cyr and his wife, Brenda, and their children, Bobbie Sue, Cassie Cormier (and her son, Dominick) and Justine Hall; Ruby Duguay and her husband, Arthur, and their daughters, Autumn and Erin; Jason Cyr and his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Dominik; Daniel Gagn and his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Daniell, Jennifer and Stephen; David Gagn; Ren Cyr II and his wife Kelly, and their children, Tyler and Kaleigh; Rick Cyr and his wife, Amy; Theodore Cyr and his wife, Leona; and Jenny Sellinger and her husband, Michael, and their sons, Dylan and Austin; one sister, Donate Voisin; three brothers, Melki Violette, Lorenzo Violette and Claude Violette.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Priscilla Gagn; a son-in-law, Edward Lger; a son, Normand; sisters, Blanche Poitras, Freda Ouellette, Thrse, Amanda, and Sr. Mina Violette; and brothers, Patrick, Sylvio, Ren and Armand Violette.
