Leroy H. Varnum Sr.


FARMINGTON – Leroy H. Varnum Sr., 58, passed away peacefully at Franklin Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 24, surrounded by his companion and loving family.

He was born on April 27, 1949, in Farmington, the son of Wallace and Mavis (Hodgson) Varnum Sr. and grew up in Mexico.

He enjoyed the outdoors, camping in Eustis and watching the late, great NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt. He loved and was loved by kids and adults of all ages. He especially enjoyed his time with his youngest daughter, Dale and being surrounded by special friends and family.

He is survived by his soul mate, Bette LaBrecque; his mother, Mavis Varnum Powell, who was always a phone call away; three sons, Leroy Jr., Edward and Randy; four daughters, Leanne, Kristy, Roxanne and Dale; three stepchildren, Lisa, Luke and Bridgette; four brothers, Diamond, Jewels, Silver and Rock; three sisters, Kathy, Pearl and Opal; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Wallace Sr.; a brother, Wallace Jr.; and a sister, Ruby.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful care that Leroy received by the medical staff in the ICU department at Franklin Memorial Hospital as well as the Winthrop Manor. Leroy will be sadly missed by many.
