Experience and toughness

In a recent New York Times, Thomas Friedman wrote, "We have to rip open this two-party duopoly and have it challenged by a serious third party that will talk about education reform without worrying about offending the far left ... energy and climate reform without worrying about offending the far right ... "

In Maine, we already have this third party; his name is Eliot Cutler.

Beholden to neither political agendas nor powerful interests, Cutler, a true independent, is the only candidate qualified to lead Maine to prominence in an interdependent world.

He has the common sense, the broad experience and the toughness to make hard choices without fear or favor. The times demand no less.

Please submit more information on the candidate

I hope Mr. O'Brien is an SJ internet user and will take advantage of the opportunity to tell us about Mr. Cutler in more than the obsurd limit of 250 words allowed by SJ in an LTTE. SJ is currently running a two week long front page series on the candidates, we cannot expect unbiased coverage, we know SJ supports Libby Mitchell. SJ covers Paul LePage because being the Republican candidate, they have too. The openly admit they are going to ignore the bulk of the official write-ins not even giving the names. Jenkins candidacy is a all about getting Jenkins attention, how do you take someone seriously who says they will run if enough people ask to be their friend on Facebook? Then how do you take them seriously when they sign on even when they don't get half way to their "goal." The thought of having the state run by poll is terrifying. We still have a majority of candidates that have gone completely uncovered and ignored leaving the voting public in the dark. I would ask that folks submit information, please no name calling or trash talk, in the comment section of the front page story for all of us to be informed. SJ is not going to get us what we need but, with this forum, we can get it to each other. Thank you for your contributions.

If that's what you think, you're in for a big surprise

when the SJ endorses LePage. The only reason the SJ didn't endorse WOODCOCK last time is because he was a traditional republican who didn't pay his taxes on time. The ended up endorsing no one.
