I am writing this letter because I want everyone in the Twin Cities who like hockey, or who are even remotely interested in the sport, to take some time and go to a Maineiacs game at the Colisee on Birch Street in Lewiston.
Family activities are so limited in this area and I cannot stress enough what a great atmosphere this venue provides. I have been attending games since the first season and I don’t think a lot of the local people realize how lucky we are in Lewiston to have the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In Canada, these kids are like superstars and we have an excellent group of boys here this year.
Not only did they help out when a local cemetery was vandalized, but they are constantly, without recognition, helping out in the community. For example, on the first day of school, they were busy greeting and welcoming children as they got off the bus. They also just donated 1,000 game tickets to the YWCA that it can use for fundraising any way it sees fit, and got no press about that, either.
These are a great bunch of kids who are working their butts off to get a shot in the NHL.
This is good, fun entertainment and folks should try to get to a game and show support.

Go Maineiacs!
I, too, am a big hockey fan and have seen hockey played at all levels. Attending Maineiacs games is a treat - great hockey in a very good venue. Seeing family and friends, old and new, is a big plus. The team has been working hard at making and strengthening their connections to the community. They have earned your support, please give it to them.

I love sports, but grew up in an area where hockey wasn't even on the radar. I have never made it through an entire hockey game on TV. Late last season a friend dragged me to a Maineiacs game. I came away totally impressed with the action, the atmosphere and the entire experience. The folks at the Colisee have a lot of which to be proud, it's just a great way to spend an evening.

I completely agree with your comment. Watching a sport on TV and watching it LIVE are two completely different things. I was never really a fan of baseball while my brothers watched it on TV because it just seemed so boring. But after attending a game at Fenway and feeding off of that atmosphere, I enjoy the sport more now. And a co-worker of mine never liked hockey until he went to a game this past weekend and says now that he plans on going again which everyone should do!
