Society meeting

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Congregational Hall, 64 Elm St. The meeting will feature findings discovered by the Everything Paranormal of New England in Sanford.

The paranormal investigative team spent a night at the society’s headquarters (the former First Congregational Church) on March 29 and recorded some interesting sights and sounds, including a voice interrupting an Elvis Presley gospel song. The public is welcome to attend and learn about the society’s workings and purpose.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on May 24 were as follows: first, Helen Little and Lucille Theriault; second/third tie, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos with Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every Monday and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area. No game will be played on Monday, May 31, Memorial Day.

Prekindergarten

MONMOUTH —  A make-up day for kindergarten registration and screening at the Henry L. Cottrell School will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday, June 4. Children must be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 15, 2010. A copy of the child’s original birth certificate, Social Security number and health record including immunization dates will be needed. The child will be checked for height, weight, vision and hearing.
