Between July 23 at 7 a.m. and July 25 at 7 a.m. this department has responded to 272 calls for service. Of those calls, 68 of them were motor vehicle stops.

Criminal mischief

A rear window to the residence at the dead end of Jill Street was broken out by a rock sometime between July 18 and 22.

A vehicle parked at 139 South Ave. was keyed overnight July 22-24.

Sand was dumped into a gas tank of a vehicle parked at 100 Blake St. overnight July 22-23.

A vehicle parked at 13 Martha Ave. has been the target of numerous pranks in the last month including writing in shoe polish and being covered with traffic cones. These are occurring between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The rear window of a vehicle parked at 45 Ashmount St. was broken out with a rock overnight July 23-24.

The retaining wall at 381 Main St. was damaged overnight July 23-24.

A juvenile who is responsible for the vandalism at the Payne-Simard Memorial Park has been charged with criminal mischief. Further investigation into the graffiti revealed a trail of similar tags that began on Newbury Street in Auburn, continued across the railroad trestle, along Pine Street and to an apartment on Ash Street. Numerous buildings, vehicles and signs had been marked with paint markers and spray paint. A full confession has been obtained.

Thefts

A Sun Journal vending machine was stolen from Tall Pines Drive overnight July 22-23.

Numerous tools were stolen from the porch of 91 Pettingill St. on July 23 at 3:30 p.m.

A green, black and silver 24-inch Next mountain bike was stolen from the bike rack at Lewiston High School between 9:30 a.m. and noon on July 23.

Sometime during the afternoon of July 23, the front license plate was stolen from a parked car. The plate number is 4152PL.

Burglary

A storage unit at Sabattus Street Self Storage – 1434 Sabattus St. – was burglarized sometime in the past two weeks.

Habitual offender notification

Timothy Weeks, 37, has a suspended license with habitual offender status. He has 12 previous suspensions on his driving record and his last known address is 47 Leavitt Ave. in Lewiston. If you see Weeks driving, please notify the department immediately at 784-6421.

Operating after suspension arrest

Craig Felder, 35, was arrested for operating without a license on July 24 at 1:20 a.m. at Union and Oak streets. The vehicle was stopped for failing to dim headlights for oncoming traffic.

OUI arrest

Roland Harford, 51, was arrested for operating under the influence and operating without a license at 1:05 a.m. July 24 at Lisbon and Essex streets. This was following a routine traffic stop.

The department is looking for Derek Demers, 35. He is wanted on a warrant charging unpaid fines for habitual motor vehicle offender.

The department is looking for Mike Gray, 21. He is wanted on a warrant charging unpaid fines for furnishing drugs.

The department is looking for Fredrick Strout, 46. He is wanted on a warrant charging unpaid fines for unlawful trafficking in drugs.
